Mission Need
Veteran contact information was being stored across multiple systems. When a veteran’s information needed updating, they had to request an update in each system. This cumbersome process was largely unknown by many Veterans, leading to outdated contact records. Consequently, this disconnect impeded veterans’ access services and benefits, ranging from important communications to essential medications.
Solution
Veterans Affairs OIT engaged SAIC to deliver VA Profile. VA Profile is a master data management and data services solution that supports a customer-centric data infrastructure. It modernizes VA systems by ensuring that data records are synchronized and shared across the department—regardless of the channel used to capture or update information.

How We Helped
- Facilitated data capture, updates and mastering from disparate VA data sources to create an authoritative record for contact and demographic information and customer interaction history.
- Enabled data accessibility for partner systems with the opportunity to perform a single call and get authoritative data from VA Profile and other VA databases.
- Collaborated with multiple stakeholders to build products that adhere to enterprise data standards, processes and quality benchmarks—resulting in canonical data models that facilitate operational and analytical consistency for each domain.
- Provided a single home for VA-wide analysis of Veteran data on a managed platform by synchronizing data with the Summit Data Platform.
- Delivered reporting, analytics and visualization services to help drive key business decisions across VA.
Mission Impact
VA Profile provides a master data management system to serve as the Authoritative Data Source (ADS)—delivering a key objective of VA Profile—Tell VA Once. By integrating enterprise technology, management and data processes, SAIC has helped the VA enhance the journey of millions of Veterans and their families—with 34.1 million total profiles, including 22.2 million Veteran profiles. From 2021 to 2024, VA Profile has nearly doubled the total number of profiles represented within their system.
By simplifying the experience of Veterans and partners, the VA Profile work directly aligns with VA OIT’s core mission of delivering IT products and services to VA and our nation’s Veterans. The examples below illustrate how VA Profile continues meeting its intended goal of empowering every Veteran with world-class, customer-centric experiences through enterprise technology and data strategies that connect the Veteran community to VA.
